Built to Order™ builder purchases lots and land in Copperfield and plans to begin model home construction immediately

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- KB Home (NYS: KBH) , one of the nation's largest and most recognized homebuilders, today announced that it has acquired select finished lots and undeveloped land in Copperfield, an existing community in Converse. The builder, distinguished by its Built to Order™ approach, plans to begin model home construction immediately at the community site.

"Copperfield is in a particularly appealing location on Loop 1604, less than 10 minutes from Randolph Air Force Base and served by highly-rated schools," said Brett Dietz, president of KB Home's San Antonio division. "This is a wonderful place to live and a wonderful place to do what we do best—deliver customized Built to Order new homes that are also among the most energy-efficient available today."

KB Home has purchased 45 finished lots and approximately 160 undeveloped lots which are part of the first phase of development of the community. KB Home will offer a variety of one- and two-story floor plans ranging from 1,582 to 3,728 square feet, which will be "built to order." Built to Order means that homebuyers can choose their lot location, the floor plan that goes on the lot and many of interior and exterior design features in order to get their new home built just the way they want it.

As with all new KB homes, the new homes at Copperfield will be ENERGY STAR qualified and also certified by Build San Antonio Green® (BSAG). KB Home will be the first new home production builder in Converse to construct homes to BSAG's standards. BSAG's standards are designed to help ensure a higher performing home that is at least 15% more energy efficient than standard municipal code requirements and that offers a more healthful indoor air environment than the average San Antonio-area home.

"The city of Converse is one of the fastest growing, family-oriented communities in Northeast Bexar County," said Al Suarez, Mayor of Converse. "We are proud that KB Home is committed to building their ENERGY STAR and Build San Antonio Green certified homes in Copperfield and welcome them to the Converse family."

Model home construction at Copperfield is scheduled to start later this week, with the grand opening to home shoppers projected for early 2013. Pricing on the new KB homes is expected to start in the $150,000s. For more information, and to join an interest list for Copperfield in Converse, call 888-KB-HOMES or visit kbhome.com.
