Jungo middleware to power LG's next-generation infotainment systems as 4th joint project; Jungo's Automotive Multimedia Middleware to be demonstrated at CES

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jungo, now part of Cisco, a leading supplier of automotive multimedia middleware and connectivity software solutions, has been selected by South Korean consumer electronics giant LG Electronics to provide multimedia middleware that will power next-generation infotainment systems to be installed in new automobiles from various carmakers.

Highlights:

  • Jungo's automotive multimedia middleware, MediaCore, enables rapid development of feature-rich, embedded multimedia players for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. The operating system and hardware-independent, middleware meets both user demand for sophisticated in-car technologies and the escalating need of OEMs for scalable and affordable solutions.

  • The current agreement is the fourth such project between Jungo and the LG Electronics Car R&D laboratory, underlining the long-term strategic partnership between the two companies. Through LG Electronics, Jungo has previously provided media playback solutions for both South Korean and global car manufacturers.

  • The functionality provided by the Jungo middleware includes comprehensive multimedia management, ranging from support for playback from iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android Smartphones and storage devices, to metadata parsing and management, intelligent indexing, connectivity protocols, a simple, unified API for IVI application development and a plug-in framework for custom extensions.
