National Builder to Construct Homes in Austin Suburb for the First Time

BASTROP, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- KB Home (NYS: KBH) , one of the nation's largest and most recognized homebuilders, today announced plans for its first new home community in Bastrop, a city 30 miles east of Austin. KB Home intends to construct 26 Built to Order™ homes in the new community, called River Meadow, with a grand opening planned for April.

While KB Home is actively selling new homes in more than 20 communities throughout the Austin metro area, River Meadow marks the first time KB Home will offer its products in Bastrop specifically. The acquisition of River Meadow comes on the heels of other KB Home lot and land purchases in and around Austin, including in Georgetown, Hutto, and Leander.

"In the past few months, using our strengths, market knowledge and relationships in the region, we've aggressively identified and capitalized on land opportunities in Austin and throughout Central Texas. We think there's strong demand in Bastrop for our smartly designed, energy-efficient new homes, making it a logical location to expand," said Ken Langston, president of KB Home's Central Texas division. "These are homes that will appeal to local home buyers, with each homesite one acre or larger, our spacious floor plans, an array of Built to Order customizable design choices, and the latest in water- and energy-saving features to help reduce energy costs."

At River Meadow, home shoppers have their choice of thirteen one- and two-story floor plans, ranging from 1,582 to 3,125 square feet with up to five bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and three-car garages. Because KB homes are Built to Order, shoppers can choose and personalize almost everything about their home, from number of bedrooms and baths, to décor choices like cabinetry, flooring and fixture styles.

Every KB home is also ENERGY STAR® certified, meaning they are among the most energy-efficient available today and have the potential to reduce monthly energy costs for homeowners.

Residents of River Meadow will enjoy a small-town country lifestyle with the convenience of easy access to SH-71 and the SH-130 toll road for commuting to Austin. Adding to Bastrop's appeal is its historic downtown, with a wide variety of independently-owned restaurants, charming shops and art galleries. Opportunities for outdoor recreation abound as well, with Bastrop State Park, Lake Bastrop and the McKinney Falls State Park all nearby.
