Got Your 6 Highlights Veteran Employment with "Veteran Hiring Week" Presented by Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo Pledges to Veterans, 'I've Got Your Back,' with $1 million sponsorship of Got Your 6

Kicks off Joint Effort to Help Veteran Employment, Including Launch of Entertainment Industry Online Job Portal

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In the military, "Got your six" means "I've got your back" and Wells Fargo demonstrates this sentiment through a $1 million sponsorship of Got Your 6, the entertainment industry-backed campaign devoted to changing the conversation around military veterans in America such that veterans and military families are seen as civic assets and leaders who will reinvigorate our community.

This two-year commitment to the Got Your 6 campaign will kick off with the first ever "Veteran Hiring Week", which is taking place March 25th - 29th and is presented by Wells Fargo. The series of initiatives are in Los Angeles and New York City and include two job fairs for veterans and their family members. These events will highlight the benefits of hiring veterans and their family members into the American workforce.

"Wells Fargo is proud to support our nation's returning veterans and their families," said Brian McCullough, Wells Fargo Military Affairs program manager. "By embracing and sponsoring the mission of Got Your 6, we are furthering our commitment to making a significant impact on the lives of men and women who have served our country so well."

The sponsorship of Got Your 6 is in addition to Wells Fargo's previous $35 million commitment to military members and veterans, which includes real estate owned (REO) property donations and support to qualifying nonprofits, hiring and mentoring initiatives, customized financial education efforts, and funds for philanthropic donations and sponsorships.

Within the next five years, more than 1 million servicemen and women will be returning home, bringing with them the valuable skills and abilities from their time in service. With "Veteran Hiring Week," Got Your 6 and Wells Fargo are affirming that now, more than ever, our nation has the opportunity to embrace and empower returning veterans to become leaders in workplaces across the country.

"We are grateful to Wells Fargo for their sponsorship of Got Your 6 and for their unwavering commitment to returning veterans," said Chris Marvin, Managing Director of Got Your 6. "This collaboration will help Got Your 6 address veteran employment and further our work to empower veterans to become leaders in communities nationwide."

Got Your 6 and Wells Fargo will begin the week at a luncheon in Los Angeles on Monday, March 25th. The collaborative effort that is "Veteran Hiring Week" is made possible through the generous support of Wells Fargo and reinforces the mission of Got Your 6 to bridge the civilian-military divide by increasing awareness that veterans and military families are civic assets and leaders who will reinvigorate our communities and in turn, our workplaces. Wells Fargo will also have recruiters on hand at the job fairs and other hiring events. Joining Wells Fargo, lead partners for the week's events are: Auto Club Speedway, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, NBCUniversal, Spike TV, and Goodwill Industries International, Got Your 6's national activation partner.

As part of "Veteran Hiring Week" on Monday, March 25th Got Your 6 will help launch, in partnership with the US Chamber of Commerce Hiring our Heroes program, a job portal designed to help fill entertainment industry jobs by veterans. Studios, networks, production companies, talent agencies and guilds can now post available jobs that would be a good fit for the skill sets of veterans and their families. Some key features include:

  • The portal will be advertised directly to the military community through online and on-air channels, as well as through hiring fairs and exclusive networking events in major cities.

  • Unlike most job portals, this site will also feature a special tool called "Fast Track" designed to create critical paths to meaningful employment and show service members how to use their GI Bill benefits to earn qualifications and credentials to land the good-paying job they seek.

  • The portal will include original content created by practitioners in the entertainment community providing advice and resources to veteran jobseekers.

This portal, which has been designed with feedback and direction from entertainment industry human resource teams, will make hiring veterans easier in the entertainment industry. With a centralized platform for jobs across the industry, this job portal challenges other American industries to value veterans as assets to their workplaces.
