From Academy Award-Nominee Richard E. Robbins with Cate Blanchett, Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Chloë Moretz, Liam Neeson, Freida Pinto, Meryl Streep, and Kerry Washington

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regal Entertainment Group (NYS: RGC) , a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the United States, announced a week-long engagement of Girl Rising starting Friday, April 19. From Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, Girl Rising spotlights the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world. Tickets are on sale now at: REGmovi.es/16VClEn.

Girl Rising first gained attention among moviegoers through a crowd-sourcing approach in which fans commit to buying enough movie tickets to secure a screening. Based on that interest, Regal Entertainment Group is now making the acclaimed film available to audiences in more than 150 theatres across the country.

"Regal recognizes the intense interest by American moviegoers demanding that this film be seen in their local communities," stated Amy Miles, CEO of Regal Entertainment Group. "This movie is making an emotional impact on many of our patrons, me included. The stories from these extraordinary girls in nine different countries are accompanied by narration from an A-list of entertainers."

Narrated by Cate Blanchett, Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Chloë Moretz, Liam Neeson, Frieda Pinto, Meryl Streep, and Kerry Washington, the film has already proven a success. It is the centerpiece of 10x10 - a global campaign to educate and empower girls.

"With Girl Rising, we took a risk on a new model of on-demand theatrical distribution, and the leap of faith paid dividends," said The Documentary Group's Tom Yellin, executive producer of Girl Rising. "We've established a new model for impact filmmaking, to build a movement - and an audience - around a film. Regal joining this effort means an opportunity for people everywhere to see this beautiful and important film."

A portion of all ticket sales at Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will go to the 10x10 Fund for Girls Education, which is distributed among 10x10's high-impact network of non-profit partners: A New Day Cambodia, CARE, Girl Up/United Nations Foundation, Partners in Health, Plan International USA, Room to Read, and World Vision.

"We have been overwhelmed by the incredible response to Girl Rising," said director, Richard E. Robbins. "Around the country, thousands of people have brought Girl Rising to their local theatres with on demand screenings. Now, Regal Cinemas is making this film - and the stories of these nine incredible girls - available to anyone who wants to see it. The more people who witness the impact of education on girls' lives, the closer we get to driving change and getting girls into school."

Produced by award-winning former ABC News journalists of The Documentary Group and Paul G. Allen's Vulcan Productions, Girl Rising is powered by strategic founding partner, Intel Corporation, and global television distribution partner, CNN Films. The executive producers of Girl Rising are Tom Yellin, Holly Gordon, Paul G. Allen and Jody Allen.
