With solid experience in strategic consulting in the public sector at both the provincial and federal levels, he will serve as vice-president, corporate communications, in the Montréal office.

An outstanding track record

Mario Lavoie has nearly 30 years of experience in the political field, and extensive knowledge of the political environment and public policy.

From 2003 to 2012, he served as political advisor and diplomatic advisor to Premier of Québec Jean Charest. As a political advisor, Mario worked on a number of issues, including climate change, the negotiation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement Canada-Europe and Plan Nord.

As the person in charge of Canadian intergovernmental relations, he maintained relations between the provincial governments and the government of Canada. He helped negotiate a number of agreements between the two levels of government, including harmonization of the GST and the QST, the agreement regarding Québec's participation in UNESCO as well as the agreement on the creation of Council of the Federation.

As diplomatic advisor, he contributed to the strategic implementation of the missions of the Prime Minister, both in Canada and abroad.

From 1998 to 2003, Mario served as director of the research service at the Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition in Québec. Previously, he worked as the associate director of services to the Progressive Conservative caucus of Canada at the House of Commons. He was also employed by the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada from 1985 to 1989.
