Media Alert: Viggle Extends AppJam Deadline to August 22nd at 5 PM ET

WHAT - Viggle (Symbol: VGGL), a free cutting-edge mobile app that operates an intelligent "second screen" for television, is extending the deadline to submit entries for AppJam, a competition to create TV companion apps for the Viggle platform, to sync up with the Fall 2013 TV premiere season. The competition has also added Carpathia as a corporate sponsor, joining Gatorade, McDonald's, and State Farm.


WHEN - The deadline for entering the Viggle AppJam is being extended from Thursday, June 27, to Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 5 PM ET. Judging and public voting will take place simultaneously from September 10-18, 2013. During this phase, consumers will be able to help determine which app might go live on the Viggle platform. Winners will be announced on or around September 25, 2013.

PRIZES -Winners will receive total cash and prizes worth $50,000 as well as the possibility for integration into the Viggle platform.

CRITERIA -Apps submitted for consideration must:

  • Be related to the TV viewing experience - encourage engagement with programs that have been or are currently airing on TV or other functionality that helps makes TV more rewarding.

  • Be built for mobile web with HTML5 / CSS3 / JavaScript, use responsive design, and integrate with Viggle's native iOS and Android apps.

  • Can be anything from static content experiences like video playlists, news headlines, and photo slideshows to fully immersive games where users can interact with each other and earn Viggle points.

CATEGORIES -Best Overall App, Best Synchronized App, Best Social TV App, and Popular Choice.

JUDGES - Brand representatives and a panel of industry experts will evaluate submissions based on the quality of the idea, its implementation, and execution as well as the overall user experience.
