A Michigan mom stumbled on quite a surprise when she looked inside the pockets of her son's brand new jeans. Fox News says, "A mother in Detroit finds a bag of pot in a pair of jeans she bought at Target for her 9-year-old son."

Simona Green told Detroit's WJBK she bought the jeans Saturday and found the marijuana when she went to iron them Sunday. She said it could have been a whole lot worse if she hadn't found the pot and her son had been caught with it at school.

"He probably would have been expelled. I would have been in jail. My husband would have been in jail. There's no telling what could have happened, and they need to take that into consideration."

In past cases of children bringing drugs to school, their parents have faced serious consequences. A mom in Maine was not charged after her 4-year-old daughter unknowingly took marijuana to school earlier this year, but the Morning Sentinel reports police consulted with child protective services about the girl's welfare.

Green called Target to complain about what was found in the pants, but she says employees acted like it wasn't a big deal and didn't give her the apology she wanted.

WJBK posted about the story on its Facebook page. Most of the people who commented said the mom overreacted - even though marijuana use is illegal in Michigan.

One comment read: "She called the news for that little bit of weedjQuery19109405133252432706_1398272829341? Is that even enough to roll a joint?" And another said: "It's only weed ... "

WJBK tried reaching out to Target's corporate office for a comment on the incident. The station reports Target has not yet responded.
