Funeral set for man who died during NYC arrest

Updated

NEW YORK (AP) - A funeral is scheduled Wednesday for the 43-year-old New York City man whose death while in police custody has led to accusations of police misconduct.

The viewing for Eric Garner starts at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Brooklyn. The Rev. Al Sharpton will speak at the funeral, which begins at 7 p.m.

An amateur video shows a plainclothes police officer placing Garner in what appears be a chokehold last Thursday on Staten Island. Garner can be heard gasping, "I can't breathe!"

Autopsy results are pending.

One officer has been stripped of his gun and badge pending an investigation and another has been placed on desk duty. Two paramedics and two EMTs have been placed on modified duty.

No cameras will be allowed at Garner's funeral.
