Rockets from Israel and Gaza can be seen from space

Alexander Gerst, an astronaut who is living and working on the International Space Station, frequently Tweets stunning aerial views of the world, from Egypt's pyramids to the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

On Thursday, Gerst posted a photo he declared his 'saddest photo yet.' At first glance, the image looks extraterrestrial -- bright formations in a dark abyss -- but it's something far more surprising.

There are so many explosions and rockets flying over Israel and Gaza, they light up the night sky and can be seen from space.
