Woman Finds Wedding Dress Lost After Hurricane Sandy

A New York woman who took her wedding dress to a dry cleaners thought she lost it forever when Hurricane Sandy swept through and destroyed the store, but two years later she was pleasantly surprised.

Nicole Pagliaro's dress was the only thing that didn't get destroyed at Sand Lane dry cleaner in South Beach when the storm hit. It was floating in a secure box on the 5 feet of water that took over the store.

The store's owner, Hector Pacheco, set up shop in Brooklyn under the same name and put the dress in his store's window - where Nicole and her husband spotted it.

She told The New York Times she ran into the shop and gave the woman at the counter her information. When Pacheco saw her, "he remembered me and gave me a big hug."

Nicole plans to give the dress to her daughter, who is now 18 months old, to wear on her big day.
