Actress Elizabeth Peña's Cause Of Death Confirmed


Details surrounding "Modern Family" actress Elizabeth Pena's death have been released. TMZ obtained a copy of her death certificate, which points out the 55 year old Cuban actress suffered from cirrhosis of the liver due to alcohol. Apparently Pena had the disease for months, but it recently intensified.

Pena rose to fame in the 1987 film "La Bamba." Most recently she graced the small screen as Gloria's mother on "Modern Family."

As for the immediate cause of death, Pena had acute gastrointestinal bleeding which caused her heart to stop beating.

Pena died on October 14th in Los Angeles.
