The 65-year-old piano man is about to set a record for the most performances by an artist at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

July 1st will mark the Grammy Award winner's 65th concert at the venue, surpassing the 64 performance record set by fellow pop pianist Elton John.

Joel already owns one Madison Square Garden record. Back in 2006, he had a run of twelve sold out shows, which earned him his own banner in the rafters.

The iconic singer-songwriter will likely only add to his newest Garden record, since he is performing monthly at the venue as the Garden's first-ever music franchise.

The record breaking July 1st concert will be the 19th performance of Joel's residency.
