The son of one of the NYPD officers who was shot and killed Saturday mourned his father in a Facebook post.

Jaden Ramos' profile is now filled with posts about his late father Officer Rafael Ramos.

He and his partner Wenjian Liu were killed Saturday afternoon while on patrol in Brooklyn. According to police, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, shot them both in the head before turning the gun on himself.

"They were, quite simply, assassinated -- targeted for their uniform," said Police Commissioner Bill Bratton at a hospital news conference.

Shortly after the tragic event, the 13-year-old posted: "Today I had to say bye to my father. He was their for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It's horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad."

Less than two weeks before the shooting, Jaden posted photos of his family to celebrate his father's 40th birthday.

"Happy birthday to the best dad in the world, you are always there for me even when it's almost impossible," he wrote. "We have so many good times it's not even funny, I love you so much ..."

Officer Ramos also left behind a wife and an older son. Officer Liu married his wife just two months ago.
