More snow in store for Northeast, Midwest this week

An Alberta Clipper brings a fresh wave of snow from the Midwest to the Northeast from late on Wednesday through early on Friday.
A wave of moisture, emerging from southern Canada on Wednesday evening, will dive down into the Upper Midwest.
Snow on Wednesday night will spread from Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, reaching far northwestern Ohio by daybreak on Thursday morning.
On the south side of the snow, a light wintry mix is expected from northern Illinois into northern Indiana.
As the system sweeps even farther east, snowfall will likely reach the majority of the Northeast.
In general, accumulations are expected to be fairly light, with the heaviest snow remaining in parts of southern Ontario and Quebec.
Even light accumulations, however, could cause travel delays for airports in the United States, for Detroit, Michigan; Buffalo, New York; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
As the storm marches eastward into western New England, there is the potential for the system to strengthen into Friday.
AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski commented that "depending upon how much the storm strengthens, several inches of additional snow could fall along some of the I-95 cities of New England during the day Friday."
Either way, this snow could slow the cleanup for those in coastal New England who must dig out from feet of snow.
This likely will not be the last storm to bring snow into the Northeast in the near future. Early indications are that the storm developing at the end of this week in the Southwest will track over the eastern half of the country early in the new week.
