Miss Universe Canada names first Latina winner
Paola Núñez Valdez has been crowned the 2015 Miss Universe Canada.
The Dominican beauty queen is the first woman of Latin heritage to take the title.
Valdez, 24, was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated with her mother to Canada at the age of 10, where they currently live.
Valdez is currently a student at Humber College, studying Business-Accounting, and hopes to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Her charity is Operation Smile, which helps children who suffer from cleft lip or cleft palate receive exceptional surgical care, regardless of their economic situation.
It's great to see a beautiful girl use her platform for good.
