A recent study confirmed the U.S. officially has more Spanish speakers than Spain. It came in second place after Mexico for largest amount of Spanish speakers in the world. With more than 52,900,000 Spanish speakers, the U.S. beat Spain's count of about 46,770,000 Spanish speakers. Mexico has more than 121,000,000 Spanish speakers.

A whopping 470 million in the world people claim Spanish as their native language, and 89 million people claim to know Spanish to some degree -- and this number will only increase as time goes on.
