How the Presidents Proposed to Their Wives

We're taking a look at how Presidents of the United States proposed to their girlfriends.

Andrew Jackson proposed to his future wife when she was married to another man. When Rachel Robards heard that her first husband filed for divorce, she married Jackson. The information turned out the be false though, and she was technically married to two men at the same time.

Lyndon Johnson asked Lady Bird to marry him before the second date, but she said no. Three months later when he proposed with a ring she said yes. That ring cost $2.50. Adjusted for inflation that's $45.73.

When he was 25, Richard Nixon auditioned for a community theater production where he met Pat Ryan. She said "no" to his proposals for two years before she said "yes." In case you missed that, I did say Richard Nixon performed on stage.
