'Empire' co-stars get engaged

Grace Gealey and Trai Byers, two stars of Fox's Empire, are engaged. Byers popped the question while celebrating Gealey's 31st birthday on July 26.

Neither of the Empire stars have confirmed their engagement via social media, but Gealey posted a birthday Instagram about her "incredibly unforgettable day," which features an photo of the actress in front of a cake with what looks like a ring on her left hand.

Rumors have been swirling about the costars dating since early spring, despite the irony of their relationship on the show -- Gealey plays Anika Calhoun, Lucious Lyon's fiancee, making her the step-mom-to-be of Byers' character Andre Lyon.

Empire returns for a second season on Sept. 23.
