Megan Nicole dishes on 'Sweet Dreams' tour, upcoming film, and why her fans are the best

With over 3 million subscribers and 620 million views on Youtube, Megan Nicole has taken the social media-sphere by storm with her pitch-perfect singing voice and catchy tunes. What makes Megan exceptional, though, is her ability to capture the most raw and relatable emotions in her lyrics.

She uses music as an outlet to connect with people all over the world. Her ability to empathize with and inspire so many young people across the globe paired with her fierce drive has risen her to stardom.

Megan released her debut album of original songs titled "Escape" in October of 2014. The series of pop songs mesmerized fans, impelling them to flock to Megan's national "Sweet Dreams" tour venues.

Megan was also honored as one of the 2015 YouTube Music Awards winners alongside big-name celebs including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and One Direction.

In addition, Megan developed and is currently promoting the Relativity Digital Studios upcoming film, "Summer Forever," in which she stars.

This pop sensation can do it all. She sings, dances, acts, and even dreams of launching her own fashion line one day. It seems Megan Nicole can accomplish just about anything she puts her mind to. Amazingly, she's been able to remain grounded, level-headed, and kind throughout her crazy exciting professional journey.

We were lucky enough to sit down and chat with the star about her new movie, her current tour, and her passion for music.

I think pretty much every girl out there can empathize with your song topics. Do you intentionally try to come up with topics that anyone can relate to, or do you go with more personal experiences?

A lot of songs that I right are through personal experience. At the end of the day, I just hope that as I'm being honest and open with my emotions, people are able to connect with it and know that they're not alone.

What's your favorite thing to write about?

I love writing sappy, sad love songs. A lot of people know me through my fun, upbeat stuff which I love doing as well and I love performing, but I feel like I'm able to communicate through music and that's where those emotions can translate through.

How similar are you to your character in "Summer Forever?"

Sydney and I are very similar in many ways. Music is a big passion of hers and she loves her family, she loves her friends and she would do anything for them.

If you could cast any actor as your romantic interest in a movie, who would it be?

There are so many options! Let's go with Ryan Gosling.

Why did you choose YouTube as the platform to share your music on?

My dad actually encouraged me to post my first video on there. Before that, I was always just playing at open mics and talent shows and just taking any and every opportunity I could around the area I lived in Houston to get out there and perform. My dad noticed people using YouTube as a platform to share their music. I never imagined I'd be able to reach out to people all over the world. That's one of the cool things about social media and music in general. No matter where you're from or what language you speak, there's a certain emotion and connection and feeling people get from music.

At what moment did you realize that you had seriously made it big in the industry? How did you feel in that moment?

You know I think for me there's always so many goals I'm trying to reach and I'm always continuing to grow and progress. I would just say over this last year in general being respected more and more by traditional media and being seen as an artist and an actress and not solely a YouTuber has been a big turning point.

You say that your fans are the ones who discovered you. They're clearly very important to you. What's your favorite thing about your fans?

They're so funny! And so genuine. They will always come up with little memes and GIFs of me. They just make the funniest comments back and they're always making me smile in some way.

Do you enjoy performing or creating more?

I guess in a way both because I wouldn't be able to perform if I didn't create. I love the performing aspect of it because it's my moment to connect with people in person and have a night together of singing and dancing.

You definitely show a lot of emotion in your music videos. How do you channel those emotions while filming in front of so many people?

I think the biggest thing for me is not to overthink things and just really let myself go in that moment. I grew up playing and leading in church. Starting in sixth grade I'd go play keys and I was a part of that process until I was in 11th grade. When leading worship I always had to just let myself go in that moment. It wasn't about me it was just about having that connection through music. I think that's how I can kind of cross over into the music and songs I do now. The biggest thing is just to let yourself go and not be too concerned. I think that's what translates the best.

What can fans look forward to next? Any new songs or videos coming out soon?

I'm working on new music right now. I'm constantly working on new music. Hopefully there'll be more acting projects and eventually down the road I would love to create a fashion line of my own.

Do you know what your fashion line would be called?

Not yet! I was thinking about that the other day I still have a couple thoughts in my head but I haven't pinpointed what that name would be. But I kind of have a general idea of what it'll look like.

What advice do you have for musicians trying to make it in the industry?

My best advice is to figure out your unique voice and to work hard. Don't put limitations on yourself and don't give up.
