People familiar with his deliberations tell CBS News that he's leaning toward entering the race — and we may know as soon as next week.

His biggest concern is still his family, though he has their support.

Right now it's Biden that presents the biggest threat to Clinton. A national poll has the VP at No. 2 without even being a candidate...yet... On top of that, some Clinton donors are defecting to Biden. They told The Wall Street Journal that they are, quote, "We're waiting for Joe."

Over the weekend, Biden may have been doing some subtle campaigning by hitting potential presidential opponents for their positions on LGBT issues.

"Let them know! The American people are already with you! Look at the numbers, though there are homophobes still left - most of them are running for president I think."

The vice president's team says even if he does run, he won't take part in next Tuesday's Democratic debate.
