The singer announced on Instagram Friday that he'll be appearing with his good friend Chris Martin and his band, Coldplay, during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday. Mars joins Beyoncé as the second confirmed special guest to appear during Coldplay's set.

"Mars has landed," he wrote on Instagram in the two posts confirming his involvement. "It ain't a party if Mr $how Up & $how out doesn't show up."

Mars' announcement comes after weeks of speculation that he would be performing, so it didn't come as much of a surprise. This will also be Mars' second time performing during at the sought-after gig, having headlined the show in 2014 to astronomical ratings.

And, really, what would the halftime show be without a little "Uptown Funk" action?
