Is 100-degree heat returning to Sacramento? See forecast + what’s in store for Labor Day

After a brief cooldown, temperatures in the Sacramento area are set to soar again.

The capital city will experience high temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s this week heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Sacramento residents expressed sadness about the rapid departure of “false fall” via social media.

“It was crazy how much it felt like fall really started, only to be whiplashed back into our ghost pepper summer,” Reddit user Duckington_Wentworth wrote. “Fingers crossed for real fall to make a return sooner than later.”

Will Sacramento see 100-degree temperatures?

Although earlier forecasts called for 100-degree temperatures this week, the weather service’s latest forecast indicates Sacramento won’t get quite that hot.

As of Monday morning, the highest temperature forecast the area for the next seven days was 99 degrees on Wednesday, the agency said.

What’s in the weather forecast for the Sacramento area?

On Monday, Sacracramento was expected to see a high temperature near 94 degrees with a low temperature around 62 degrees, according to the weather service’s seven-day forecast.

On Tuesday, the high will be near 98 with a low near 64, the weather service said.

After Wednesday reaches a high of 99, the nighttime low will dip to around 64 degrees.

Thursday and Friday will have high temperatures near 97 and 95, respectively, with low temperatures around 63 and 61.

For Labor Day weekend, Sacramento-area residents can expect a high near 91 during the day on Saturday and a low around 60 on Saturday night.

Sunday will see a high of 89.

It’ll be sunny all week.

What will Labor Day look like in Sacramento?

Sara Purdue, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said that the Sacramento area will likely be mostly sunny with some occasional breezy wind on Monday, Sept. 2 — Labor Day.

The Sacramento Valley can expect temperatures in the 90s on the holiday, while the city may see a range from 89 to 95 degrees, Purdue said.
