While remodeling your home is never cheap, Costco members can get deep discounts through their memberships. If you're preparing for home renovations, here's how Costco can help you save.

1. Get a Shop Card with home installation services

Costco offers several home improvement services. While it doesn't perform the services itself, it can connect you with professionals who will. Plus, when you have a service done, Costco often gives you a Shop Card, typically worth a percentage of the service's cost.

Costco's price reflects delivery, installation, and haul away costs. Best Buy lists delivery and installation for an additional $169.98, plus $59.99 for haul away. If you purchase all these services, you'd pay about $825 for this microwave.

Costco offers delivery, installation, and haul away on all its appliances. Purchasing an appliance at Costco also entitles you to a two-year warranty. This perk, together with Costco's low prices, is why the wholesaler is one of the best places to buy your appliances.

3. Generous return policy

Costco's return policy is legendary: The wholesale club will let you return most major appliances within 90 days from the day you purchased them. This includes refrigerators, water heaters, washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers, ranges, cooktops, and over-the-range microwaves. Meanwhile, Best Buy gives you 15 days to return most major appliances, while Lowe's would give you 48 hours (or 30 days if the box is unopened).

All things considered, your Costco membership entitles you to excellent discounts on home services, furniture, and appliances. While it's still important to compare prices with other retailers, having a Costco membership can open you up to big savings opportunities.
