4 Watertown restaurants pass health inspections, but 3 contain violations

Four Watertown establishments were inspected on Monday. All four received scores above 90 with one restaurant getting a perfect score.

The South Dakota Department of Health inspected Breakout, the Days Inn restaurant, Little Caesars and Tropical Smoothie Café.

Breakout at 19 N. Broadway

This business had three violations and received a score of 93.

Violation 1: An approved sanitizer was not used during three compartment sink operation. It was using chlorine sanitizer labeled for bar glasses only.

Violation 2: The nonfood contact surface was not cleaned as frequently as required. -Fan in the kitchen area has dust buildup.

Violation 3: The prep sink was not provided or not used for food items requiring washing and soaking. The restaurant should only be using the sanitizer compartment for food prep.

Days Inn food area at 2900 9th Ave.

This restaurant had two violations and received a score of 94.

Violation 1: Certified food service manager had an expired certificate or is no longer associated with this establishment.

Violation 2: The bathroom did not have individual disposable towels, continuous towel supply system or heated air-drying device. The bathroom also did not have any soap to wash hands with.

Little Caesars at 1517 Ninth Avenue

This restaurant had two violations and was given a score of 96.

Violation 1: The tools that were used to work on the food were not stored correctly when not in use. The cheese shredding utensil was placed on the cheese when not in use.

Violation 2: The non-food area was not cleaned properly. It had buildup and debris on it.

Violation 3: Pizza cutters and trays need to be cleaned every four hours instead of twice a day.

Tropical Smoothie Caféat 911 11th SE St. 200

This restaurant was given a perfect score of 100 with no violations.
