"On the Trail of Bigfoot: The Ancients" will be shown Aug. 30 at Canton Palace Theatre.

The Stark County-based Small Town Monsters independent production company is presenting the film, one in a series exploring various aspects of the Bigfoot phenomena. Filmmaker Seth Breedlove heads Small Town Monsters.

The new film explores the Great Smoky Mountains in search of evidence and clues of Bigfoot. Stories and accounts of a Sasquatch-like creature known as the Woodbooger is also examined. Joining Breedlove in the quest are researchers Russ Jones, Matt Pruitt and Mark Matzke.

"Breedlove, and his father, Ronnie, descendants of early settlers in the Smoky Mountains, return to their ancestral homeland for a heartfelt and exhaustive exploration of the area’s history and the rich folklore surrounding it," said a news release from Small Town Monsters.

"'The Ancients' follows Breedlove and company deep into both the Smoky Mountains and the director’s family tree, with surprising revelations on both fronts," the movie announcement said.

Breedlove's other films include "The Minerva Monster," "The Beast of Whitehall" and "The Mothman of Point Pleasant."

Doors open 30 minutes before the 6:30 p.m. screening. Tickets cost $10 and are available at https://cantonpalacetheatre.org/ and at the door.
