That ’90s Show Introduces Kelso’s Daughter — and Offers Fresh Intel on His Relationship With Jackie

Michael Kelso’s daughter is all grown up and making her debut on That ’90s Show.
Betsy (played by recurring guest star Kira Kosarin) arrives in Part 3 of the That ’70s Show sequel series and immediately stirs up trouble. But before we delve into any of that, let’s recall how we got here.
On That ’70s Show, Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Brooke Rockwell (Shannon Elizabeth) hooked up at a Molly Hatchet concert. Nine months later, Betsy was born. At the beginning of Season 8, circa 1979, Kelso moved to Chicago to be closer to his daughter — but as of That ’90s Show’s first episode, which picked up in 1995, Kelso was back in Point Place and about to marry Jackie (Mila Kunis) for a third time.
Together, Kelso and Jackie had a son, Betsy’s half-brother Jay. But up until now, there had been no mention of Betsy or Brooke on That ’90s Show, which led many That ’70s Show fans to assume that they had been retconned — erased from series canon. We now know this to be untrue.
That ’90s Show: What We’ve Learned About Every That ’70s Show Character (So Far)
Betsy turns up in Episode 3 and hooks up with Jay’s best bud Nate. What follows is a war of words between half-siblings, which in turn offers clarity on what went down between Kelso, Jackie and Brooke between the years 1980 and 1995:
Jay: Dad stayed with my mom.
Betsy: Not for those weird three years in the middle.
Jay: We don’t talk about that!
So, there you have it: Between Kelso and Jackie’s first divorce and second marriage… or between their second divorce and third marriage — the details are still a bit fuzzy — Kelso got back together with Betsy’s mom Brooke.
Alas, Kelso, Jackie and Brooke do not appear to offer any further explanation. Like Topher Grace, Kutcher, Kunis and Elizabeth are nowhere to be seen in Part 3.
