Additional tidbits from the state's Top Workplaces

Jun. 21—This is Outlook's Top Workplaces edition.

For the past 12 years, the Journal has partnered with Energage, an employee survey company, to find the state's Top Workplaces measured through employee satisfaction surveys.

Today, there's an article explaining the methodology of Energage's work in the edition.

Energage determined that 59 places met the criteria for earning the distinction. They divided the businesses into large, midsize and small companies.

We wrote stories about a handful of the companies; obviously we couldn't write about all of them.

So here's some interesting tidbits and facts about New Mexico companies that made the list.

Senior member: The oldest of New Mexico's Top Workplaces in 2024 was St. Mary's School in Albuquerque, which was founded in 1893, five years before New Mexico became a state. The company has 40 employees and is located in Downtown Albuquerque. It ranked No. 12 among small companies.

Youngest business: Souder, Miller & Associates was the youngest workplace to make the list. The engineering firm was founded in 2023 and made quick work of becoming one of the best places to work. It was ranked No. 14 among midsize companies. The next youngest company on the list was Kairos Power, which was founded in 2016.

Frequent flyers: Energage for 12 years has surveyed employees to find the Top Workplaces. Three companies have made the list each year: Nusenda Credit Union, T-Mobile and Edward Jones.

First timers: There were several companies who made the Top Workplaces list for the first time. Yearout Mechanical, Green Summit Landscape Management, Citizen Church, Ardham Technologies, Mele Associates, D & R Tank, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and Atkore all made their first appearance on the Top Workplaces list.

There was one law firm: Parnell Law Firm.

The three No. 1 ranked businesses were Nusenda Credit Union among large business, Pioneer Bank among midsize businesses and Amy Biehl High School in the small business category.

Two government agencies made the list: New Mexico State Land Office and New Mexico School for the Blind.
