Anna Delvey says winning “Dancing With the Stars” would mean 'nothing, really' (exclusive)
The convicted con artist, who inspired the series "Inventing Anna," plans to bedazzle her ankle monitor for the show.
Honestly? Anna Delvey doesn’t really care if she wins Dancing With the Stars or not.
When asked by Entertainment Weekly what taking home the competition’s coveted Mirrorball Trophy would mean to her at a New York press junket following the show's season 33 cast reveal on Wednesday, the convicted conwoman and Inventing Anna subject bluntly replied, “Nothing, really. I don’t know.”
Delvey then burst out laughing before quickly amending her answer, clarifying, “It would be great.”

The 33-year-old — who was released from prison in 2021 after four years due to good behavior and is currently on house arrest — might be apathetic toward the idea of winning Dancing With the Stars, but it would be a huge honor for her newcomer pro partner, Ezra Sosa.
“I’m obsessed with her,” he said about Delvey. Although, he added, “For me, it’d mean a little bit more than that though, because I do love what I do and this show’s been my biggest dream.” Reflecting on the disco ball-encrusted award, Delvey appeared to find a silver lining in winning, interjecting, “I get to have the ball, I guess?”
According to Sosa, Delvey has already got a very special place in mind for where she'd put the trophy, too. “She said if she won, she’d put it in storage,” he remarked. “But I’ll put mine on the mantle. I’ll make sure it gets some sunlight.”
As for why Delvey joined Dancing With the Stars? “Why not?” She quipped. Her lack of dance experience doesn't get her down, either. "I used to dance a little bit when I was ages 4 and 12," she recalled, "but I haven't really danced in 20 years.”
However, she admitted that her decision to compete on the show was “very last minute” due to the legal requirements surrounding her ongoing house arrest.
“They offered it to me, then I had to get permission from ICE to be able to travel out of state and that took about 10 days,” Delvey explained. “I didn’t really know until very last minute if I was going to able to do it or not, and then it was kind of too late to say no, so, I’m just here.”
While Dancing With the Stars is filmed in Los Angeles, Delvey and Sosa will remain in New York in the next few weeks leading up to the series premiere on Sept. 17 because she's currently producing a New York Fashion Week show with former America’s Next Top Model judge, Kelly Cutrone. Sosa will also be walking the runway during the event.
They're bringing some of that glam to Dancing With the Stars too — starting with Delvey's ankle monitor. “I’m going to rhinestone her ankle monitor,” Sosa declared. “Obviously! it’s Dancing With the Stars! What do you expect?”
Dancing With the Stars premieres on Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
