APB for Green Power Ranger: Actor wanted by Nampa police in attack on man using walker

An actor who starred in the “Power Rangers” movie and TV franchise is wanted by the Nampa Police Department for allegedly attacking a resident in his early 60s who was using a walker.

Nampa police said an arrest warrant was issued on a charge of misdemeanor battery for Hector David Rivera, 35 — stage name Hector David Jr. — after he was identified on video in an apartment complex parking lot knocking down the victim, who had been in front of Rivera’s truck.

Police said that Rivera was parked in a spot meant for the disabled and that the encounter just before noon last Friday was captured by the victim’s vehicle dashboard camera, and then posted on social media by police.

“Do you recognize this battery suspect?” the video caption read.

The post was updated the following day saying the suspect was identified and the investigation was ongoing. Nampa police spokesperson Carmen Boeger confirmed to the Statesman that Rivera was the suspect.

Rivera played Dr. Thomas Oliver, the Green Power Ranger, from 2011 to 2015. The Connecticut-born actor also appeared in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and has over 25 acting credits to his name. He was scheduled to be in Twin Falls this weekend for the Magic Valley Comic-Con, but is no longer on the schedule.

The video shared by police showed Rivera wearing a white and blue New England Patriots jersey, red pants and an Illinois Foundation Seeds hat. He was seen having a “verbal altercation about parking” and then pushing down the man, police said.

The victim called police and submitted a photo he had taken of Rivera, who was also holding up his phone to take a picture, Boeger told the Statesman. The man also gave the video taken with his dashboard camera to authorities.

A white car drove by the victim while he was on the ground, the video showed, and the man said to be Rivera then drove away in a four-door truck with a Texas license plate.

The man using the walker was helped up and was OK at the scene, police said. Boeger said that if the victim developed injuries, more charges would be a possibility.
