Manning will lead the Longhorns, ranked No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, after veteran quarterback Quinn Ewers was injured.

How has Arch Manning done so far this season?

Manning completed nine of 12 pass attempts for 223 yards and four touchdowns last week against UTSA in the 56-7 victory. He also had three carries for 53 rushing yards and a touchdown.

He also completed five of six passes for 95 yards and a touchdown in the 52-0 victory over Colorado State.

How have other Mannings fared in their first college start?

Peyton Manning:

As a true freshman, Peyton started as a third-string quarterback before injuries to Todd Helton and Jerry Colquitt led to Peyton's first college start. He completed seven of 14 passes for 79 yards in a 10-9 victory over Washington State on October 1, 1994.

Manning was the first overall pick in the 1998 draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He won Super Bowl XLI and Super Bowl 50. He was also named the NFL's Most Valuable Player for five seasons.

Eli Manning:

Eli began his sophomore season as the starting quarterback and had his first start result in a 49-14 victory over Murray State on Sept. 1, 2021. Eli completed 20 of 23 passes for 271 yards and five passing touchdowns.

Earlier this week, Eli was announced as one of 16 first-time Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees. He was drafted first overall by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2004. He was named Super Bowl MVP twice after winning Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI.

Archie Manning:

Archie completed eight of 14 pass attempts for 116 yards in his first start for Ole Miss. He also had eight carries for 67 yards.

Archie was drafted as the No. 2 overall pick in the 1971 draft by the New Orleans Saints. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1989.

Cooper Manning:

Arch's father Cooper was a highly-ranked prospect coming out of Isidore Newman High School as a receiver and committed to play at Ole Miss but his playing career was cut short after being diagnosed with spinal stenosis.
