Area golfers compete in SDGA Junior Tour events at Prairie Winds and Cattail Crossing

A number of area golfers competed Monday and Tuesday in the South Dakota Golf Association's Junior Tour stops at Watertown's two golf courses.

Boys and girls in the 9-and-under and 10-11 divisions played nine holes each day at the Prairie Winds Golf Club (Monday) and Cattail Crossing Golf Course (Tuesday). Players 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18 played 18 holes each day.

The SDGA Junior Tour features three regions (Northeast, Southeat and West). The top points leaders in all three regions advances to the Junior Tour Cup on Monday, Aug. 5 at th Hillsview Golf Club in Pierre.

Watertown is part of the Northeast Region, which also includes an event scheduled for Thursday, July 18 at the Lake Region Golf Course at Lake Poinsett.

Many of the youth golfers will also compete on Sunday, July 28 in the SDGA Adult-Junior Championship and Monday through Wednesday, July 29-31 in the SDGA Junior Championships at The Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion.
