The red carpet dresses that took our breath away in 2019

The year may be coming to a close, but before we start planning our Oscar viewing parties, we're revisiting all the gorgeous and glamorous high-fashion gowns that made their way down the awards show red carpets this year.

We saw fringe, we saw intricate embroidery, we saw sequins and we saw a whole lot of skin. From the Met Gala to Cannes, the Grammys to the Academy Awards, everyone from our favorite models, singers and actors put their best sartorial foot forward and set the stage for a very stylish season.

From Dakota Johnson's tummy-bearing Brandon Maxwell two-piece set to Jennifer Lopez's shimmery high-slit Zuhair Murad gown, Kendall Jenner's neon pink tulle gown by Giambattista Valli and Emily Blunt's elaborate Michael Kors Met Gala creation (which was embroidered with over 510,000 sequins!), these extraordinary gowns didn't just make our list for the year, but probably the decade.
