Festive swimmers brave freezing waters for Christmas Day dip

In celebration of a season of good "chill," thousands of festive swimmers were filmed having a Christmas Swim in Wales.

This is the 55th year of the traditional Porthcawl Christmas Swim, one of the biggest group swims in the U.K., which helps raise money for charities. This year participants raised money for Alzheimer’s Society — the only U.K. charity that funds research for dementia and Alzheimer's, as well as offering support for people living with either condition.

The costume theme this year was "Down Memory Lane." Beachside temperatures were around 44°F.
