For the last three years, fans have known Ebon Moss-Bachrach for his critically acclaimed role as Richard "Richie" Jerimovich on The Bear. As he is gearing up to potentially win another trophy for the part at the 2024 Emmy Awards, he's lucky to have a special someone by his side through all of his success — his wife, Ukrainian photographer Yelena Yemchuk.

Unlike many celebrity marriages, Ebon and Yelena didn't meet while on set. Their road to romance began in the 1990s, when they met at a mutual friend's dinner party in New York City. But there were two things stopping them from dating. Both were in established romantic relationships, and Yelena wasn't interested in going out with an actor.

"When I saw Ebon, I was, like, 'Oh, my God, he's cute. Who is this guy?'" Yelena shared in an interview with Ebon for The New Yorker in November 2022. "My friend was, like, 'Forget it, he has a girlfriend and he's an actor.' And I was, like, 'Ugh!' When you think of an actor as a boyfriend, that's not where you want to go. They just seem like such a pain in the a--."

Luckily, Ebon was able to win Yelena over a year and a half after meeting. They quickly began dating after both of their relationships ended, and while it's unclear when they tied the knot, the couple eventually did become husband and wife. Per Us Weekly, Ebon and Yelena welcomed their first daughter Sasha in 2007. Three years later in 2010, their younger daughter Mirabelle completed their family.

In the same New Yorker interview, Ebon shared how his love of cooking started long before The Bear. As it turns out, he got into it when trying to give Sasha healthier forms of baby food as an infant.

"You know how it is: you have a baby, and it's like you're the first person to have a baby in the history of the world," he said at the time. "And the world is full of poison, and you're trying not to screw up. So I started making her baby food."

Clearly, he didn't realize at the time how his enjoyment of cooking would seep into the creative side of his life. And given how both he and Yelena have unique careers, one would think the two might have trouble striking a balance between their home and work lives. But when speaking to Sharp Magazine in June 2023, Ebon shared that they actually love being in creative fields — and their schedules often line up with one another because of it.

"Our life is often quite chaotic, but we have similar struggles and successes and triumphs, Yelena and I, in terms of balancing work and finances and then ego stuff," he stated at the time. "Our lives work well together — because, for example, I’ve been in Chicago for the last three months, and as this work is winding down, she has the potential to do more on her end. This is her time."

We love to see a supportive pair!
