Bernie Moreno showed immense stupidity in comment about Sherrod Brown and Joe Biden

Moreno showed immense stupidity

United State Senate candidate Bernie Moreno says he believes that Senator Sherrod Brown’s failure to demand President Joe Biden withdraw from the 2024 election, “Makes Watergate look like nothing.”

A statement such as this demonstrates clearly that Moreno lacks even the most basic level of judgment and intelligence to serve as dog catcher, let alone as a member of the Senate.

The Watergate affair was among the most reprehensible events in American politics. Moreno is apparently either ignorant of the significance of that scandal or he is willing to make utterly ridiculous statements to try to get votes.

He has clearly displayed his complete lack of fitness to hold public office.

Huffman, lawmakers opened door for Citizens not Politicians

Ohio Senator Matt Huffman stated 'there is no accountability to voters' as one of his objections to the Citizens not Politicians initiative. The opposite is true. Lack of accountability to voters from the majority in the legislature is the reason for voter led initiatives.

Had maps been drawn as voters intended with the 2015 and 2018 issues, "Citizens not Politicians'" would be unnecessary. I am constantly hearing them say the majority of Ohioans want this or that. Where do these numbers come from? To whom are they talking? They were wrong on abortion, marijuana, constitutional changes, and district maps.

What we have learned is that we can't count on the legislature to understand or implement the will of the people in Ohio. In turn we take things into our own hands. Maybe we should start working on property taxes (should have been reformed in 1997), tax abatements and TIFs.

More: It's bad no matter which party does it. Democrats rigged Ohio before GOP came on scene.

The current legislature seems more inclined to work on issues disenfranchising small segments of Ohioans instead of helping the majority.

If only we could vote them out, but alas current districts make that almost impossible.

Biden stumbled but Trump flat out lied

Much attention’s been given the first presidential debate.

We should pay more attention to the second debate. Not the September event, but the second perspective on the June event.

That first debate measured superficial elements, like style, presentation. The second June debate measured the answers’ value and importance.

We aren't powerless. Democracy in America will only die if we let it

Trump may have won the superficial debate. Biden won the consequential debate – the one with substance from the candidates.

Although stammering somewhat in answering, what Biden had to say was significant, helpful, true. However, when asked for meaningful answers, Trump resorted to little more than lies.

I regret Biden did poorly in the superficial debate, but I’m glad he won the significant debate.

We don't want a felon

In response to Suzanne Purdy’s letter July 8, "Where is the Trump support," one comment stood out to me.

Her statement about Biden’s poor performance in the last three years, including “a lack of respect for American institutions and authority and lawlessness.”

Has she forgotten that Donald Trump refused to uphold the Constitution by demanding Vice President Mike Pence reject the 2020 election results? Maybe there is less support because the country doesn’t want a convicted felon in the Oval Office.
