Beyoncé is repping Team USA at the Olympics this year.

The star surprised millions of viewers on Friday night when she introduced Team USA during NBC’s broadcast of the Olympics opening ceremony. Decked out in a sparkling white bodysuit—which proudly spelled out “USA” in blue sequins—Beyoncé remixed her single “YA YA” from her Cowboy Carter album, turning the song into a noteworthy introduction for American athletes.

“Hello, girls,” the superstar said. “Hello, Beyoncé,” replied uniform-clad members of the women’s gymnastics team, including Jade Carey, Sunisa “Suni” Lee, Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera. The men’s gymnastics team—which includes Fred Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Juda, Asher Hong, and Stephen Nedoroscik—then followed suit.

As Beyoncé continued to present Team USA, she paraded around in her bedazzled bodysuit, which also featured the stars and stripes of the American flag. She accessorized with a matching sequined cowboy hat, along with a pair of custom white cowboy boots that boasted strips of red, white, and blue rhinestones, as well as rhinestone motifs of the Olympic rings. A flowing windbreaker with the same patriotic palette lay draped across her shoulders, and at the back, showed off a large Olympic rings emblem.

“We wanna welcome you to the 2024 Summer Olympic games! Ah!” Beyoncé said as the music grew stronger. “On behalf of Team USA, we ‘gon make it do what it do, YA YA! Put them hands together!” With this cue, a montage of American athletes began, presenting competitors including Sha’Carri Richardson, LeBron James, Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky, Noah Lyles, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and many other members of Team USA.

As the camera flashed back to Beyoncé, she offered a closer look at her glam. She wore her long blonde hair in a straightened style with a middle part, and opted for a glowing makeup look with gold eyeshadow, a subtle black cat eye, and a glossy nude lip. A close-up shot of her hands exhibited a shimmering manicure that included American flag nail art, as well as diamanté details.

“Get a look at America, y’all,” she said as she continued her introduction. “These hopes and dreams, these superstars that represent us—the people of this big, bold, beautiful, complicated nation.” As she spoke, more athletes flashed across the screen, some holding the American flag. “That pride, and that joy, that’s what gets me about this team. And that’s what makes me believe in this team. And that’s why I can’t wait to see what they pull off over these next 16 days. America, give it up for Team USA, the very best of who we are.”

Before the clip ended, another montage showed different Olympic qualifiers competing in various sports before they earned their place at the Paris Games. “What a vision to behold. What a team to believe in. What a night to celebrate,” Beyoncé concluded.
