Brockton officials use survival suits to rescue dog stuck in mud in Trout Brook

BROCKTON — The Brockton Fire Department and Brockton Animal Control rescued a small dog that was stuck in Trout Brook on Saturday, according to Fire Chief Brian Nardelli.

The Brockton Fire Department received a call late Saturday afternoon for a dog who was running around near Puffer Playground, Nardelli said.

Trout Brook runs adjacent to the playground, which is located on Teele Street.

"The dog got caught in all this muck and water," Nardelli said. "Firefighters put on survival suits like we use for ice rescues. They worked with animal control officers to get the dog out of there."

"Even this time of year, the water and mud get cold. They can become hypothermic really quickly. They can suffer the same fate as if a human was in there," Nardelli said.

In about an hour, officials were able to get the dog out of the water.

"He's doing well and back with his owners", Nardelli said. "He was in good spirits."
