Calallen duo headlines Corpus Christi honorees on THSCA Super Elite Softball teams

Several Corpus Christi-area high school softball players were honored by the Texas High School Coaches Association on Friday as the organization released its Super Elite teams.

Calallen senior Alaunah Almaraz, a UT Tyler signee, was named Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year and joined teammate Jordyn Thibodeaux on the team.

Almaraz and Thibodeaux helped the Wildcats capture their second consecutive Class 4A state championship. Calallen is the lone Corpus Christi area school to have won multiple state title in softball.

Santa Gertrudis Academy's Adriana Mireles and San Diego's Dalisa Luera were named to the Class 3A Super Elite Team.

Woodsboro's Syndey Castillo rounded out the Coastal Bend representation, earning a nod on the Class 2A team.
