Cam Ward Heisman Trophy odds: Miami football QB betting favorite after three games

Miami football's acquisition of Cam Ward during the offseason through the transfer portal is paying off through three weeks of the 2024 college football season.

Ward has led the Hurricanes ― in Year 3 under coach Mario Cristobal ― to a 3-0 start to the season, which includes a dominant Week 1 road victory over rival Florida. Ward has not only raised the level of Miami's offense, but also led the Hurricanes, ranked No. 11 in the US LBM Coaches Poll entering Week 4, into ACC and College Football Playoff contention.

As a result of his early success on the field, the former Washington State quarterback has thrust himself into the Heisman Trophy race. The last Hurricanes player to win a Heisman Trophy was Gino Torretta in 1992, with Vinny Testaverde (1986) the only other winner in Hurricanes history.
