Talk about a dog with a big bark! Cane Corso, also referred to as an Italian Mastiff, are a very large dog breed with intimidating barks and growls. If you've ever heard one, it's enough to stop you in your tracks! Skye is a beautiful Cane Corso who puts on her 'big guard bark' when someone's at the door. It's intimidating, and I bet a stranger wouldn't try to enter the house after hearing her.

Skye's mom posted a video in July of the dog using her scary bark when she hears someone at the door. She doesn't know who's there and is ready to protect her mom at all costs. When she realizes it's her 'nanny' at the door, her bark changes in one second flat to an adorable 'puppy voice'. Watch her adorable little butt wiggle with excitement to see Nanny!

Nanny got such a sweet greeting! Commenters agreed that Skye's reaction to seeing one of her favorite people was too cute. @Hankers swooned, "So sweet!" and @Millie Ings got more than 14 thousand likes when she said, "Nanny’s here" and included little crying emojis. Skye's response to her Nanny was total cuteness overload!

Is A Cane Corso Right for Your Family?

My mom and dad have a Cane Corso. She weighs almost 200 pounds and is very frightening looking if you don't know her. She's also a big lover and thinks she's a lap dog. Imagine having a 200-pound dog trying to crawl into your lap for a snuggle!

The name Cane Corso actually means “bodyguard dog,” and it's fitting since that's what they were originally bred to do. Dogster.com shared this fun fact: "It may make sense to pronounce Cane Corso like “Kayn Cor-So,” similar to the walking aid. However, since the dog originated in Italy, the correct way to pronounce its name is “Kah-Nay Cor-So.”" I am not too proud to admit that I always say it wrong!

These dogs like to stay busy, and they thrive on both mental and physical stimulation; if you're looking for a couch potato, this is not the dog for you. When they become bored, they can be become destructive, and they can do some real damage since they love to chew and bite on things.

Cane Corsi (the plural version) are fiercely protective and loyal, and nobody will get past them if they feel their family is in danger. I don't know who would try after hearing that terrifying bark! And while their appearance can be intimidating, they're actually sweet dogs when it comes to their family. They respond well to their master’s commands because of their high levels of loyalty and eagerness to please. That being said, they can also be stubborn. They're extremely intelligent dogs that require strong training to keep from becoming overbearing or unmanageable.

Cane Corsi love to be around their family, but this doesn't mean that they like to be around strangers. They can be indifferent to people who they don't know. They do not trust strangers and will treat them as a threat. This is another reason why training is so important from a young age. If you're considering a Cane Corso as a pet, make sure to do your research to ensure that the breed fits your family's lifestyle and expectations.
