What channel is Michigan vs. Fresno State on today? Time, TV schedule for season opener
The Michigan Wolverines, college football's defending national champion, take the field Saturday at the Big House as they open their season against the Fresno State Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
Michigan football lost a ton of talent, but ranks No. 8 in the preseason coaches' poll, the lowest for a defending champ since 2011.
New head coach Sherronne Moore will lead this year's team, replacing Jim Harbaugh, who moved to the NFL as head coach for the Los Angeles Chargers. Moore was the interim coach for four games, including during Harbaugh's second suspension last season amid the team's sign-stealing scandal. Moore led the Wolverines to their final three regular-season victories against Penn State, Maryland and Ohio State.
Aside from the major changes to Michigan and its roster, there are shifts happening across the college football landscape.
The Big Ten added four West Coast teams with Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA. There are no more divisions, so the league's top two teams out of 18 will play for the conference championship in Indianapolis. (Michigan is the three-time defending Big Ten champs.)
The NCAA will also debut the new 12-team College Football Playoff bracket.

Michigan vs. Fresno State picks, odds
Odds via BetMGM as of Friday, Aug. 30.
Michigan vs. Fresno State: The Bulldogs have had their share of Power Five upsets in recent years (Arizona State, Purdue, UCLA and Washington State). They return talent on offense and just enough on defense. But opening at the defending national champions is a tougher task. Even if the Wolverines are still deciding on their quarterback, the combination of an elite defense and experienced talent should be enough. Pick: Michigan 29, Fresno State 16. — Tony Garcia, Detroit Free Press beat writer
Spread: Wolverines by 21.
Over/under total: 45½ points.
Moneyline: Michigan -1600, Fresno State +900.
