Chappell Roan Dishes on Full-Circle Moment Being Invited to a Party by Miley Cyrus

At this point, it's impossible to scroll through your social feeds without coming across Chappell Roan's larger-than-life stage presence and infectious hooks. As the mastermind behind "Good Luck, Babe!"—aka one of the coveted songs of summer '24 that happens to be about compulsory heterosexuality—the Midwest Princess' star only continues to rise. Besides drawing in massive festival crowds and landing in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 and 200 charts, she's been praised by her pop predecessors like Olivia Rodrigo, Elton John, and Charli XCX. The latest A-lister to show their support for Chappell, though? That'd be the one and only Miley Cyrus.

During an appearance on Drew Afualo's The Comment Section podcast, Chappell revealed a full-circle moment where Miley invited her to a party. "All these things that are happening to me now are just kind of icing on the cake. I never thought I could fly first class. You know what I mean? I never thought I would get access to so much backstage," Chappell said of her newfound fame, adding, "Miley invited me to a party, and I was like, 'You don't know that you were my first concert when the Jonas Brothers were opening for you.'"

Of course, Chappell referring to Miley's Best of Both Worlds Tour during her Hannah Montana days. Drew then likened the "Red Wine Supernova" singer to the Disney Channel pop star, to which Chappell revealed that she would have loved to hide her identity like the beloved fictional character.

"If I were to be able to start this all over, I don't think it's realistic to do a Daft Punk thing, but I wish I would have, you know? Like, a helmet. Same with Mr. Marshmello," Chappell explained. "But I loved that Hannah had two different personalities because it's my fucking hair that gets me in trouble all the time. So, I wish I would've done her."

She added that her experience at Miley's concert taught her about fan culture as a child. "I was in fourth grade, and when she came out I saw my friends start crying, and then little girls around us started crying, and I was like, 'I guess I've gotta cry.' I was like, 'This is so emotional,'" she said.

"I didn’t understand then why people were crying, but now I get it. I'm like, 'Oh, because that was the coolest thing.' It was so spiritual," she continued.

Earlier this summer, Rolling Stone declared we're in the Hannah Montana generation of pop music. Meaning: the current domination of Main Pop Girls™️ like Chappell and Sabrina Carpenter can be credited to the Disney Channel pop star's influence. On multiple occasions, Chappell has credited Miley/Hannah for inspiring her fun, upbeat sound that can be heard throughout The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. In February 2023, she even dressed in a Hannah-esque look for her headlining show at New York's Webster Hall:

We're truly living for this full-circle moment. 🥹💖
