Christian Yelich made his TV booth debut during the Brewers game Saturday, and it was total gold
Christian Yelich is pretty good on the baseball diamond. Turns out he’s a natural in the TV booth, too.
The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder made his broadcast commentary debut Saturday night at Chase Field, his first road trip with the team since undergoing season-ending back surgery.
Initially, it was scheduled to be a brief appearance in the top of the fourth. But things went so swimmingly – both for Yelich and the Brewers offense – that Yelich stayed for multiple innings.
Immediately after Yelich entered the booth, the Brewers scored four runs without recording an out.
“This is unbelievable,” Yelich said as Willy Adames went deep for back-to-back blasts with Garrett Mitchell.
Yelich remained in the booth to dish on a wide variety of topics, from baseball, his teammates, Matt Arnold doing bicep curls during the game and, of course, Ichiro Suzuki stories, and Dippin’ Dots.
“It’s been the ice cream of the future for 20-some years now,” Yelich cracked.
He also read the “Tavern of the Game” promotion.
Needless to say, fans loved it.

Wait, why could Yelich have a career in the broadcast business after his playing days are over…. He’s a natural. Could we have a Braun and Yeli booth after Rock and BA???!!! #blowoutthoughts

Make Yelich an announcer the rest of the way. I’m sold.

Yelich has indicated he has an interest in remaining in the game in some capacity once his playing days are done, whether as a coach or front office member. But, after Saturday, he may have other opportunities when the time comes.
