Chunky alligator draws a crowd as it lumbers through Texas neighborhood, video shows
A large alligator drew a crowd as it lumbered through a neighborhood in Texas, videos on social media show.
The alligator was spotted walking along the grass near a brick wall about 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12 in Cinco Ranch, KHOU reported and video posted on Twitter by Fort Bend County Constable Chad Norvell shows.
A few hours later, the alligator still had not left, according to a video shared on Twitter by Michael Schwab. Instead, a crowd had gathered to watch the animal’s “morning stroll.”
An alligator rescue service soon showed up to relocate the 10.5-foot-long alligator, Bayou City Gator Savers posted on Facebook.
Video shows a man approach the alligator that – unsuccessfully – attempts to roll away. The man sits on the alligator and ties it up, moving it toward the road where a tow truck and pickup truck are waiting.
The tow truck lifts the alligator up and puts it into the bed of the pickup truck that visibly sinks beneath its weight, video shows. The alligator weighed 400 pounds, Houston Chronicle reported.
A man straps the alligator in as people crowd around, footage shows.
“Bye, sweetheart,” someone calls in the video.
The alligator was taken to a sanctuary in Beaumont, Texas, KHOU reported.
