The city of Richmond Hill has notified the public that a sewer overflow was reported to the Environmental Protection Division Thursday. As a result, the Ogeechee River, as well as other tributaries, may have received overflow from the sewer.

The cause of the spill is listed as, "Regional flooding from the Ogeechee River resulting from the effects of Tropical Storm Debby." The amount of the discharge into the various bodies of water is unknown at this time.

The sign that displays the public notice reads, "Multiple portions of gravity sewer manholes in the following subdivisions severely impacted by floodwaters: The White Oak, Live Oak, Mulberry and Richmond Place subdivisions, as well as Rushing Street Station, Carter Street, Rosemont Street, 1st Street, 2nd Street, Forest Street, Kennah Court and Camellia Street."

The city said they are continuing to pump wastewater and are moving it to the Sterling Creek Water Reclamation facility.
