The Cleveland Browns announced Thursday in a press release they have waived defensive end Lonnie Phelps, who was arrested Wednesday in Florida and charged with drunken driving and damaging property after police say he crashed his SUV into a restaurant in Key West, according to multiple reports.

The 23-year-old Phelps, who went to high school at Mount Healthy in Cincinnati, went undrafted out of Kansas before the Browns signed him in May 2023 as an undrafted free agent.

He was waived by the team in August 2023, but re-signed to the Browns practice squad shortly thereafter.

Cleveland signed Phelps to a reserve/future contract in January of this year. He spent the entire 2023 season on the team's practice squad.
