Colin Jost is the latest celebrity who has been tapped to host a game show.

On July 31, Prime Video and Sony Pictures Television revealed in a press release that Jost will host a brand new show called “Pop Culture Jeopardy!”

The spinoff of the classic and beloved trivia game is the first “Jeopardy!” series created exclusively for a streaming platform, the press release said. Production for Jost’s “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” will begin this August.

Jost reacted to the casting news using his humor that “Saturday Night Live” fans know all too well.

“What is: I’m excited,” he said in the press release.

Suzanne Prete, president, game shows, Sony Pictures Television, said that Jost’s sense of humor helped him land the job.

“Colin’s sharp wit and intelligence epitomize ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’” she said, adding, “He’s smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he’ll be able to keep up with them while making this new series his own. We could not be happier that he is joining us for this new journey.”

Lauren Anderson, head of brand and content innovation, Amazon MGM Studios, also complimented Jost for his “wry affability and pop culture fluency.”

How will 'Pop Culture Jeopardy!' work?

Similar to the original series, “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” will use the same “answer-and-question” format and apply it to pop culture trivia.

The contestants will play in teams of three and compete to be the last players standing in the tournament-style showdown. To walk away with the grand prize, they’ll have to know a wide-range of pop culture knowledge, “from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya,” according to the press release.

What else has Colin Jost hosted?

Although Jost is mostly known for his comedy and serving as the “Weekend Update” co-anchor with Michael Che on “SNL,” he has been dabbling in other projects lately.

He is currently giving fans a glimpse of his hosting skills while covering the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has been reporting on the surfing events for NBC on location in Tahiti, nearly 10,000 miles away from the Summer Games. But despite being in the tropical area, he has had a slightly rough experience so far.

Soon after landing in Tahiti, he injured his toes while trying to surf, he revealed to NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico in an interview.

“I did pretty well until the first wave and then I ended up standing on the coral reef,” he shared. “Much like the coral reef safety expert, but without coral shoes on. So I got a little scraped up.”

Jost also said in a separate interview with NBC Sports’ Maria Taylor that he has a staph infection due to his injuries.

He showed the results of his run-in with the coral reef on Instagram July 26.

Jost shared a photo of the multiple cuts on his toes.

“This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me,” he joked in the caption.

A few days later, he shared an update with fans. He posted a photo of his left foot with bandages on three of his toes.

“You know it’s going great when you’ve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes,” he said in the caption.

Luckily for him, his next gig as the “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” host will allow him to return to a familiar setting: a studio with an audience.
