Columbus police are seeking a suspected gunman and a second unnamed male in connection with the fatal shooting of a North Linden man Monday afternoon in the Northern Lights neighborhood on the city's North Side.

Deontae D'Quel Daniel, 25, of the Walnut Heights neighborhood on Columbus' East Side, has been charged by Columbus police with murder in the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Cordell Tatney. Police are also seeking a second suspect, a male, who was seen with Daniel at the time of the shooting.

According to police, Tatney and Daniel had an "ongoing feud" that resulted in Tatney being shot multiple times and killed.

Homicide detectives said that Tatney was visiting a friend at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Cleveland Avenue about 1½ miles from his home when Daniel and the second male went to that person's apartment. Daniel and the second male left, then returned to the home sometime later, police said.

A witness told detectives that Daniel and the other male were seen waiting outside of the apartment, apparently watching Tatney and waiting to ambush him. According to detectives, the witness saw the duo go into the apartment, heard multiple gunshots, and saw Daniel fleeing the scene holding a handgun. The witness allegedly heard Daniel make a statement saying that he shot Tatney, according to detectives.

Columbus Division of Fire medics transported Tatney in critical condition to Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:02 p.m.
