Cooper takes over top spot in Class 5A in latest Kentucky high school football media poll

With the high school football season reaching its halfway point, the latest Kentucky statewide media poll reflects which teams are poised to make deep postseason runs.

For the first time this season, a Northern Kentucky team is atop its class. The Cooper Jaguars, who are No. 1 in Class 5A, will immediately be forced to back up that ranking when they travel to No. 3 Highlands.

Thanks to Lloyd Memorial's appearance in the Class 3A poll, Northern Kentucky now has a ranked team in each class.

The poll is conducted by Jason Frakes of the Louisville Courier-Journal and 16 journalists throughout the state vote on the top 10 teams in each class.

Here are the complete polls. Northern Kentucky teams are in bold and first-place votes are in parentheses.
